Jason
Cowboy Up's lead singer, Jason Rodgers, (Big Country) joined the band when they were High Noon. Born in California and having lived all over the south west through Arizona up to Colorado back down to Texas and Oklahoma, finally landing in Louisiana, you could say that he has been around the block; actually a few of them. Jason started singing in front of an audience way back in the 8th grade. On the afternoon on the journey home, he would break off into song and before long he would have the whole bus singing along (Mainly because everyone knew the words to the Beer Bottle song). When Karaoke came out, Jason found his niche. Jason has always loved country music. Some of his favorite artists include, Conway Twitty, Ronnie Milsap, Travis Tritt, George Strait and Kenny Rogers. He says that, "Contrary to popular belief, music of all genres achieved its peak in the late 1980's. That's when the songs sounded different. Now-a-days, one song sounds so much like the next it reminds me of tract home developments. There are only 4 or 5 styles of home and the only difference from one block to the next is the car in the driveway." He lives in West Monroe with his girlfriend Rhonda, her son Zack and his new baby girl Kaylen. Jason is trying to pick up the guitar to help with his song writing. He may not be much of a guitar player but with the way he sings, we'll just let him play the heck out of that cow bell.
